Three albums in, folk-rock duo Kris + Dee already feel like old friends. Their music has a timeless quality while remaining of the moment and fresh. A Great Long Game was written and recorded in an intimate and pastoral fashion so to present it to the world they have embarked on a series of up close and personal performances.
Just back from an east coast trek, the setting that inspired much of their last album Bloom, the pair grace Toronto with a taste of some new songs as well as favourites from their back catalogue. "Since our new album A Great Long Game was written entirely around our living room coffee table and in our screened-in porch, we wanted to reproduce that vibe for this Toronto show," they explain.
With Kensington Lodge consciously trying to create "a cottage vibe in the city," it feels like the perfect place for Kris + Dee to fill with their warm melodies and welcoming vibe. As the Kris half of Kris + Dee said the last time we talked, "We're more listening music than party music," and what could be better than being summer serenaded at the next best thing to a night at the cottage?
Kris + Dee play Sat, July 11 at Kensington Lodge, 21 Kensington Ave. krisanddee.com
