My Gay Toronto - Bellini's 8 1/2

Matinee Fest

by Paul Bellini

Had enough of Toronto lately? Then try the Matinee Las Vegas Festival, the fastest growing gay dance festival in the world, from May 22nd to  May 25th.

Matinée launched nearly twenty years ago in Ibiza. Their first US event was Pride in New York where they transformed Manhattan’s Governor’s Island into an extravagant dance arena. Matinée made its Las Vegas debut in 2010 with Matinee Las Vegas Festival.  It included jaw-dropping spectacles, including one that involved synchronized swimmers performing in a glass pool of water set on fire. And, with any luck, you will also get laid.

“Matinée continues to raise the bar on nightlife,” says Jake Resnicow. “Whether in the heart of Manhattan or on the beaches of Miami, a Matinée event is meant to take revelers out of body and beyond the confines of their imagination.”

The DJ line-up includes some of the world’s most innovative icons in dance music from across the globe including Hector Fonseca, Taito Tikaro, Kitty Glitter, Dan Slater, Phil Romano, Tiago Vibe, O’Halley Brothers, Josh Whitaker, DJ Grind, Kidd Madonny, Billy Lace, and DJ Nando. I’ve never heard of any of them. They could all be Star Wars characters for all I know.

“Las Vegas has proven to be the perfect city for our unique party revolution”, says Resnicow.  “In Vegas, there are very few restrictions and absolutely no last calls.” Unlike, say, Toronto. What are you waiting for? Check out the sexy trailer at
