I was sad to hear of the passing of Chris Hyndman. I met the design guru back in 1999, when I was writing for a non-broadcast night of the Gemini Awards. He and partner Steven Sabados arrived with about 15 wardrobe changes each. They never did anything in half measures. My obsession at the time was Chris’s hair. Was it real? Try as I may to find a seam or a weave, it appears it was.
His passing has left a huge hole in the gay designer couples community, but life goes on. So it is with some pleasure that I announce that W Network’s biggest competition TV series Game of Homes is looking for dynamic teams of two who have some design and renovation skills and want to compete to win a house – and a plot of land to put it on. This is one of the biggest prizes given away on Canadian television right now.
The deadline for applications in August 13. People can apply online at gameofhomescasting.ca or by coming in-person to an open casting call in Toronto (August 15) or Oshawa (August 8). The series is shooting in the GTA this fall and will air in 2016 on W Network.
Gay guys, you know you’ve got what it takes. So get it together and apply. Who knows, we may be watching you and your partner on TV in the near future.
