Just in time for Christmas, my buddy Raymond Helkio has just published a lovely children’s book called The Great Meeting Room. The design is striking and is sure to please the kids on your gift list.
Raymond, who is currently living in New York City, is one of those guys who does everything. I know him primarily as the producer of the one-act play I was in last year, called Hamlet In A Hot Tub, but he’s also put on shows and made films for years. This is his first book.
“Kids have a natural capacity for love,” said Raymond. “Homophobia is not a characteristic kids are born with so it’s a behaviour that gets emulated from the adults around them. The Great Meeting Room allows gay characters into your child’s reading material without having to create a point of difference for the characters.”
