7th Cousins: Truth, Love and the Search For Family 25 September 2017.
How can we be together? Whose reality is most honest, yours or mine? Is how we each see the world a reflection of how things actually are, or just how we each wish them to be? In an attempt to answer these questions, Christine Brubaker and Erin Brubacher have created 7th Cousins, a story about their 700km walking journey from Pennsylvania's Bible Belt to Ontario tracing the migration of their Mennonite ancestors. It is a personal experience that teaches them (and us) about love, family and the realities that appear to bind them altogether.
As poignant as it is heart-warming, 7th Cousins demonstrates that family isn't always defined by blood, and Christine and Erin seek soon discover something greater in one another. Both actors have a charisma and ease with one another making their interaction engaging with many surprises that came in the form of confessions, confrontations and moments of vulnerable connection. This pop-up performance of 7th Cousins is held in a church, embellishing the many stories about the religious characters they meet along their journey and mixed with audience interaction which helped build enduring characters and photo's from their journey provided entry points into their separate truths about seemingly similar realities.
