MUSIC - Columbia Records is set to release "The Promise: The Darkness on the Edge of Town Story," a three CD/three DVD/Blu Ray box set detailing the making of Bruce Springsteens landmark album, on Nov.
16. The box set will include the 1978 album, 21 unreleased songs plus a 90-minute documentary "The
Promise: The Making of 'Darkness on the Edge of Town'." The three CDs will be a remastered
version of Darkness as well as two albums with never-released tracks from the recording sessions.
Two DVDs of archived concert footage will be included along with the Promise documentary, which will also make its
debut at the Toronto Film Festival on Sept. 14 and air on HBO on Oct. 7.
Jamiroquai drummer Derrick McKenzie recently confirmed that Jamiroquai have signed a deal with Universal Music. McKenzie said that the band have already recorded more than 40 new songs, including
a couple of disco tracks, and we're told to expect a funky new
album is in the fall of 2010, with a few tour dates in North America to follow.
MOVIES - 20th Century Fox is planning to reboot the Fantastic Four franchise. Production is planned
for sometime early next year with a release set for Summer 2012, Casting rumors including Adrien
Brody and Amber Heard are being pursued to star as Mr. Fantastic and Sue Storm. Stephen
Moyer (True Blood) is up for the role of Doctor Doom, and Kevin Pennington (90210) would be up
for playing Johnny Storm. Fox is wanting Bruce Willis to voice The Thing which will be a CG
animated character for much of the film.
Jeremy Renner has signed to star alongside Tom Cruise in Paramount PicturesMission: Impossible IV. It
is the second big part Renner has landed after his role in the Oscar-winning The Hurt Locker, as he is also
set to play Hawkeye in Marvel Studios and Paramount'sThe Avengers, which is coming to theaters on May 4,
2012. Production on the fourth installment of the "Mission: Impossible" franchise is scheduled to begin
this fall under the direction of Brad Bird. J.J. Abrams is producing the December 16, 2011 release with
Cruise.
MOVIES - With Salt currently sitting comfortably on a little over $100 million domestically and with the
international rollout kicking off on the Angelina Jolie spy thriller, talk has inevitably turned toward a
possible sequel considering how its ending leaves things wide open. Writer Kurt Wimmer, director Phillip Noyce and Jolie all are all interested in returning once again.
In other sequel news, with The Expendables very strong opening of $35 million over its opening
weekend, sequel buzz has already begun and Sylvester Stallone told The Hollywood Reporter that he
has already 'plotted out' the follow-up film's direction. Expect a sequel by 2012.
During the recent Star Wars Celebration V event, George Lucas made an official announcement for
the much anticipated Star WarsBlu Ray release. He announced that all six movies are being released
on Blu-ray and that the set is coming out Fall 2011. It was also announced that the set will include
documentaries, vintage behind-the-scenes moments, interviews, retrospectives from the Lucasfilm archives. Expect this set to give all Star Wars fans a release they have been waiting for, with the movies
in 1080p HD video transfers, and never-before-seen footage that will give goose bumps to any fan.
MUSIC - Katy Perry is about to hit the big time with her second album release. Perry hit the airwaves with 2008's I Kissed a Girl, followed by her single Hot N Cold with both reaching No. 1 on the
Mainstream Top 40 chart. With this years summer jam California Gurls, Perry came back with a
vengeance. She is now about to release her second album Teenage Dream on August 24th, described
as a very radio-friendly, 80's vibe pop album. Expect more pop magic to buzz through your ear over the
coming months, as this album is expected to top her debut.

TELEVISION - HBO has a series in the works that will focus on the ins and outs of the Porn Industry. Entourage
executive producers Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson are working with controversial writer James
Frey to create a one-hour drama that will use both actors and porn stars. The story will revolve around
a giant video company under siege from Internet competitors and a girl from the Midwest whose boyfriend convinces her to move to Los Angeles to become a star. Expect a very revealing show about
the Porn Industry, which can only be shown on HBO.
MUSIC - The MTV VMA nominations were announced recently. Lady Gaga earned a record-breaking 13 MTV VMA nominations. Her Bad Romance video is up for Video of the Year, Best Pop Video, Best Female Video and Best Dance Video, among other categories. Eminem earned eight VMA nods, including Video of the Year and Best Male Video for Not Afraid, while hip-hop newcomer B.o.B. received five VMA nominations for his No. 1 debut single Nothin On You. TELEVISION - ABC recently made a major casting announcement. At last months Comic Con, V'sScott Rosenbaum announced that they are introducing Anna's mother, which he said was named Diana. Rumors were going insane that the original Queen V Diana (Jane Badler) from the original V series would return, and it is now confirmed that Jane Badler will indeed reprise her role in the shows second season. *Spoiler Alert* Her character will be introduced in the season opener which arrives in November. Diana will be found being held captive by Anna, in an unseen part of the mothership, set up to look like the V's home planet. This will give the viewers a deeper understanding of where the V's came from. Expect more lizard skin to be revealed in the new season coming late fall of 2010.
Entertainment Tonight host Mary Hart is leaving the show after her upcoming 30th season. Hart joined the show in 1982, when the show was not even a year old. She hosted the show for 10 years with John Tesh, who left in 1996. Mark Steines is her current co-anchor. Hart will take a 50% pay cut during her last season, to help the transition of her successor Lara Spencer (The Insider) join the show.
MOVIES - Stephen Sommers (The Mummy, Van Helsing) is set to return behind the director's chair for the sequel to G.I. Joe at Paramount Pictures. Channing Tatum is expected to reprise his role as Capt. Duke Hauser in the follow-up to the 2009 live-action feature which managed a healthy $300 million worldwide gross.
In a recent interview with MTV News, filmmaker James Cameron says he's working on the Avatar sequel. He is still working on writing Avatar 2, and no filming or planning for the film will occur until all deals are sorted out. There's also talk of doing not one but two Avatar films. If all works out as planned, Cameron will film the sequels back-to-back, something that's not as strenuous as it sounds due to the style of the production.
Maggie Grace (Lost) is reteaming with Taken writer and producer Luc Besson on the drama Lock Out. The futuristic movie is about an outer space prison, which is taken over by violent inmates. Grace will star as the U.S. President's daughter, held captive in the prison. Guy Pearce (The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert) is attached to play a man wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. He's offered his freedom if he can rescue the president's daughter.
MOVIES - Rihanna is set to make her feature film debut in Universal'sBattleship. The singer,
songwriter and model will be joining Taylor Kitsch and Alexander Skarsgard in the film,
scheduled to hit theaters on May 18, 2012. Battleship is based on the Hasbro game, and will
unfold as a massive Naval adventure across the seas, in the skies and over land as our plane
fights for survival against a superior force.
Len Wiseman (Live Free or Die Hard, Underworld films) is in final negotiations to direct Columbia Pictures remake of Total Recall. The original movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger
is based on the story "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale" by Philip K. Dick and is set in
the future, in which a man goes for a virtual vacation on Mars and, after a harrowing series of
events, finds himself actually on the red planet.
TELEVISION - Last week we announced some start dates for many favorite series returns. This

ABC has recently announced that Cougar Town will keep its original name. There was talk
that the show would change its title, but no suitable replacement was found. With
its Season 2 return, there are also rumors that Jennifer Aniston will make a guest appearance
alongside her best friend Courtney Cox Arquette, but there is no confirmation at this point.
MUSIC - Michael Jackson is set to invade the charts from beyond the grave - a posthumous album featuring 10 never-before-heard songs from the King of Pop will be released this November. The hitmaker's former manager Frank DiLeo estimates Jackson's vaults contain more than 100 completed and unreleased songs, including collaborations with Akon, will.i.am and Ne-Yo.

MOVIES - Nicolas Cage recently revealed that he is set to star in the anticipated sequel of Ghost
Rider. Rumored to be called Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, it will be directed by Mark
Neveldine and Brian Taylor (Crank, Gamer).
Singer Kylie Minogue has signed on to play a heavily tattooed lesbian in the teen romance
drama Jack and Diane. The movie follows the story of two teenage girls in love in New York,
one of whom hides the fact that her newly awakened sexual desire has given her werewolf-like
visions.
Tim Burton is set to direct the boardgame adaptation Monsterpocalypse for Dreamworks.
The story involves giant skyscraper sized monsters who attack earth. When the humans
fight back, the monsters burrow underground to wait for their kind whom they have sent a
signal to. Humanity knows more are coming, and so they build giant robots that will fight
the monsters if and when they return. The film is set to be filmed in 3D for a 2012 release.
MUSIC - British singer Robbie Williams has rejoined former band Take That to record their first
album together since he walked out on them 15 years ago. Williams got back together with
the other four members of the successful British band -- Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Jason
Orange and Mark Owen -- in New York last September and the new album will be released this
November.
Taylor Swift will release her third album, Speak Now worldwide on Oct. 25. It's been two years
since Swift released her sophomore album Fearless. She says, "You've got to give yourself a
little bit of time to live a lot of things so you can write about a lot of things." The new album will
feature 14 tracks, which Swift wrote herself. The first single, Mine, will be released Aug. 16.
MUSIC - Enrique Iglesias has always kept his two worlds of Spanish and English separate,
but that is all about to change with his new album release "Euphoria". The new album, which
Iglesias worked on for three years, has a flair for both languages and includes tropical ballads,
reggae, dance and pop. Iglesias, whose hits include the pop songs "Hero" and "Bailamos",
recorded songs for the new album with Akon, Nicole Sherzinger, Usher and Puerto Rican duo Wisin & Yandel.

TELEVISION - TV Land new ratings champ Hot in Cleveland made its Canadian debut on CTV
on July 5th. The 10 part series debuted well with its US and Canadian networks, and the show
has just been picked up for a second season. The show revolves around three best friends
from Los Angeles who get stuck in Cleveland and end up on Betty Whites' characters door step.
The show is set to return for a second season with a 20 episode pick up in early 2011.
Oscar winner Richard Dreyfuss is returning briefly to series television, guest starringin at least
four episodes of Showtime's hit comedy series Weeds. With the return of the series for its 6th
season, the Botwin family is on the run from the Mexican FBI, Police and Mafia and, while on
the run, encounter some new and familiar faces. Announced guest stars for the season include Linda Hamilton, Peter Stormare, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, as well as returning guest stars Alanis
Morissette and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
Smallville 10th and final season will begin on the CW network in September. The show will wrap up and end its successful run in the coming season and will be a season to remember
for many fans of the show. The show is set to announce many characters coming back from
the shows past, including the confirmed appearances of John Schneider, who played Clark
Kent's father Jonathon Kent, plus Laura Vandervoort. Vandervoort will have a
tight schedule as she not only will guest star in the new season of Smallville, but also stars
in Season 2 of ABC'sV (scheduled to return in late 2010). As both shows are filmed in
Vancouver, Vandervoort's duties should be easy to fulfill. Smallville is also rumored to have Michael Rosenbaum coming back for a few episodes as Lex Luthor while Clark Kent makes his
transition into Superman, but this could not be confirmed.
MOVIES -
With the huge opening of Universal'sDespicable Me last weekend, taking in a bigger than
expected $56.4M, Universal is going full steam ahead with a sequel. Talks are already
underway with the writers set to return. The studio is also planning to create a few short
films based on The Minions, the yellow thumb-shaped henchmen of the film's main character,
but their method of distribution has yet to be determined.
The highly anticipated Marvel Pictures film The Avengers is getting a new Hulk. Edward
Norton was set to return as the Hulk in the film, along with many other characters reprising their
roles including Robert Downey, Jr as Iron Man and Chris Evans as Captain America. Marvel
issued a statement recently, however, confirming that Norton will not return and that they are
looking for another actor to replace him. Rumor has it Marvel has already put out an offer to the
seemingly retired Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Ruffalo for the role. Expect The Avengers to hit theaters in Summer
2012.
MOVIES - Sony Pictures has officially announced that Andrew Garfield (Lions For Lambs) has been cast in the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in director Marc Webb's new untitled Spider-Man film. The new feature focuses on a teenager grappling with both contemporary human problems and amazing super-human crises. The action adventure will open in 3D and 2D theaters on July 3, 2012.
Pee-Wee Herman is set to return in a new feature film comedy. Produced by Judd Apatow (Superbad and Get Him to the Greek) for Universal Pictures, the story follows Pee-Wee Herman (Paul Reubens) on the road as he "goes on a gigantic adventure." Reubens is set to co-write the script, no word as yet regarding who will direct or a release date.
MUSIC - Pop star Kylie Minogue has cultivated international success spanning two decades with her sultry image and catchy, tinny pop songs that blossomed into mainstream dance classics. The singer is still selling her dance-floor hits and sexy formula with her new album "Aphrodite," which is released globally on July 6 and produced by Stuart Price, one of the most in-demand pop producers best known for his work on Madonna's 2005 album "Confessions on a Dancefloor". "Aphrodite" features 12 tracks that highlight her uplifting dance-floor roots mixed in with disco beats, and it discards any ballads like those that appeared on previous albums. Early reviews have been glowing, with the BBC calling the album "pure Kylie magic", with which we have to agree.

With the summer heating up, the dance charts are showing a lot of new entries and quick movers heading to the top of the charts. This week's big movers are Kelis with 4th of July (Fireworks) reaching #37 after having been in the chart for 2 weeks. Another notable jump was by our girl Kylie Minogue, who was on the charts for 3 weeks and has now reached #17 with All the Lovers.
TELEVISION -NBC's top series is about to lose its main draw as Steve Carell confirmed he will leave The Office at the end of season seven. NBC has said that Carell has hinted about leaving The Office for awhile so the network has been preparing for his departure. They are not disclosing their plans but it is surely not a coincidence that NBC picked up a lot of new sitcoms for next season.
After months of speculation, interviewer Larry King announced last night that he is ending Larry King Live this fall. The series began on June 3, 1985 and King has logged more than 40,000 interviews to date. There has been much speculation about who might take over the timeslot with a new interview program. King supposedly would like to see frequent substitute Ryan Seacrest fill the spot while it appears that Piers Morgan is set to take over.
