Both Miley Cyrus and Arianna Grande can really sing though one wouldn't know it from their usual pop/dance offerings. But dress them in animal onesies, unicorn and mouse (? even Cyrus isn't sure and she's there and flirting with it) respectively, and unleash them on a well-constructed ballad and the sonic results are sublime. The duo sit on a plastic couch in a backyard that just happens to contain a band (and great reverb for their voices) and sing and lilting version of Crowded House's "Don't Dream It's Over." The entire video is a benefit single for Cyrus' Hungry Hippie charity that works to “rally young people to fight injustice facing homeless youth, LGBT youth and other vulnerable populations.” Grande also has a vested interest in LGBT issues, having broken from her strict Catholic faith because of her love for her gay brother. The pair seem to be having fun and a spoonful of lesbian subtext makes the sugar go down.
Soooooo thankful for Ariana Grande for being a part of the #backyardsessions!! You're the sweetest little #happyhippie bear-mouse ever! Loooooove you The Happy Hippie Foundation #HappyHippiePresents #dontdreamitsover
