Cineplex Events proudly announces the return of the beloved program, The Met: Live in HD for its 11th season. Canadians will be able to purchase tickets to the popular series when they go on sale Friday, July 22, 2016 at 12:01 a.m. local time. SCENE members will get advanced access to tickets on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. local time.
Launched by the Metropolitan Opera, the series of opera performances are transmitted live in high-definition to movie theatres around the world. First introduced in December 2006, the series is aired in more than 70 countries and on over 2,000 screens, including 110 Cineplex theatres in communities large and small across Canada.

The new season of The Met: Live in HD begins on October 8, 2016, and features 10 live broadcasts. This season’s full line-up of live performances is as follows:
Tristan und Isolde, Wagner – October 8 at 12:00 p.m.
Don Giovanni, Mozart – October 22 at 12:55 p.m.
L’Amour de Loin, Saariaho – December 10 at 12:55 p.m.
Nabucco, Verdi – January 7 at 12:55 p.m.
Roméo et Juliette, Gounod – January 21 at 12:55 p.m.
Rusalka, Dvořák’ – February 25 at 12:55 p.m.
La Traviata, Verdi – March 11 at 12:55 p.m.
Idomeneo, Mozart – March 25 at 12:55 p.m.
Eugene Onegin, Tchaikovsky – April 22 at 12:55 p.m.
Der Rosenkavalier, R. Strauss – May 13 at 12:30 p.m.
All 10 operas will be Saturday matinee performances, transmitted live from the Met stage, and encore performances are scheduled throughout the season.
