Pork is the other white meat and can be as tasty as you make it.  Dress it up with apples and pears for a unique sweet and savoury taste, packed with nutrition that will impress your guest(s).

Recipe:                                 PORK CHOPS WITH SPICED APPLES & PEARS

Serves 6

2 tsp       butter
6              pork chops
½ tsp     dried basil or 1 tsp chopped fresh
½ tsp     dried thyme or 1 tsp chopped fresh
                Pinch black pepper
                Pinch sea salt
4              whole cloves
2              apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
2              pears, cored and sliced
1 tsp      sugar
½ tsp     ground cinnamon
½ tsp     lemon zest

  1. Heat 1 tsp of the butter in the pan.  Brown the pork chops in the butter for 5 minutes per side, or until they are cooked through.  Season the pork chops with the basil, thyme, pepper and salt.  Remove the pork chops from the pan; keep them warm.
  2. Heat the remaining butter in the pan.  Stir in the remaining ingredients.  Cook on medium heat until the apples and pears are softened and lightly browned.
  3. Pour the warm apple and pear mixture over the pork chops.  Serve immediately.
