As theatre was a part of my everyday life not too long ago, I know how much energy and hard work it takes to put on a show--how much of your own private life you have to sacrifice in order to be, and perform your best. Even though I am not performing anymore, I still enjoy theatre and love when I come across a show that leaves me filled with joy and positive emotions.
Will Swenson (Tick/Mitzy), Tony Sheldon (Bernadette), and Nick Adams (Felicia) are the leads stars in Toronto's production of Priscilla. What an amazing cast of talented artists; awesome performances by the leads as well as the ensemble, glitter, makeup, costumes, feathers, dancing, singing, and over the top personas...the true meaning of what theatre is all about!
Story line together with costumography stayed pretty much true to original the Academy Award-winning film, The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert that was made in 1994 and had great cast of leading actors: Hugo Weaving, Terence Stamp and Guy Pearce. Screenplay had been updated to fit better today's pop culture, and it did not take away of overall feel of the story, but kept it interesting and fresh.
The divas in the show include Jacqueline B. Arnold, Anastacia McCleskey and Ashley Spencer who are absolutely amazing, great voices and flawless delivery of classic songs known to all gay audiences. I would like to thank them for making watching this show even more enjoyable.
Overall impressions of Priscilla is
